MINEHEAD COMMUNITY CAFE BY OPEN KITCHEN

Open Kitchen has partnered with social housing provider Southway Housing to open a community-focused café and food hub in the heart of a naturally ageing community in Old Moat (close to Withington).

The cafe is open 7 days a week offering hearty home-cooked and affordable meals and snacks for local people, in line with Open Kitchen’s sustainability and zero waste principles.

The community, while in the heart of South Manchester, is somewhat geographically isolated by its layout, and the focus of this project is to offer a range of services to the whole community, with a strong focus on older people, including people with mobility issues and cognitive impairments. This project aims to tackle social isolation and bring the local community together with food at its heart.

Alongside the food and drink offer, Minehead Community Café will act as a shop for local people, stocking ethically sourced essential products, at affordable prices.
